Orbit Velo button guide: switch on, power off and reset
This guide covers every button action on Orbit Velo: switching on, pairing, switching off and factory reset.
Current Orbit Velo (Apple Find My only)
| What you want | What to do | What you'll hear |
|---|---|---|
| Switch on / pairing mode | Press and hold for 3 seconds | A beep, then pairing beeps for 10 minutes |
| Power off | Press and hold for 10 seconds | After 10 seconds it's switched off |
| Factory reset | Press the button 3 times quickly, then hold it for 10 seconds | Confirmation sound, then pairing mode |
Where's the button? On the flat side with the printed label (FCC, CE and serial number), between the two bolt holes.

Mounted on your bike? Orbit Velo is mounted with the button facing the frame, so unscrew it from the bike first to reach the button. Why the button faces the frame (anti-theft): once mounted, nobody can press the button. A thief can't switch off, disable or reset your Orbit Velo to stop it being tracked. See Mounting Orbit Velo.
Power off vs factory reset: they aren't the same. Power off just switches the Orbit off. A factory reset removes the pairing so the Orbit can be added to a new Apple ID.
Removing it from Find My: removing the item in the Find My app does not reset the Orbit. Remove it in Find My first, then do the factory reset with the button as shown above.
Orbit Velo Duo (Apple Find My or Google's Find Hub), coming end of November 2026
The Duo version works with Apple Find My or Find Hub, one at a time, and has its own button steps. To switch networks, factory reset it first, then pair it on the other platform.
Step-by-step disable, re-enable and reset instructions for Orbit Velo Duo are coming soon.
